In forests , especially tropical ones, carcasses break down pretty quickly because of all of the scavengers and fungi and bacterias. Rotten flesh? Maggots! Bone marrow? Yummy! Just bone? Calcium for the trees! There aren't a lot of those in Antarctica, though. It has several species of penguins, sea birds and seals. Its largest land animal is apparently the Antarctic midge, a small and really rare insect that only lives in one tiny area of the continent (frankly I'm surprised that there is even any insect at all in such a cold and isolated place). Some gulls do scavenge a bit but it's probably not enough clean up all of the animals that perished on land rather than lost at sea. Antarctica is a really harsh place, after all. The cold is good at preserving. Maybe there are layers and layers of frozen dead penguins under the snow that their brethren walks on top of.

Happy B-Day AG!!!

Did you know that an Ag-Cat is a biplane crop-duster built by Grumman? :ahoy:

I didn't, but I'm not surprised since "Ag" can be short for "agriculture". :dummy:

Yep. A friend's Dad used to test fly them when they were built in Elmira, NY a long time ago when we were kids!

He'd fly them over our houses and do loop the loop!

That sounds like a fun time! :D

I am very late, but Happy B-Lated B-Day A!! Five Nights at Freddys 2- Chicas Cupcake -Icon GIF
